My career spans over two decades, with more than 15 years in academic medical centers, serving as Professor of Medicine, with over 130 publications, including the New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, and Clinical Infectious Diseases, and over 7000 citations of my work.
During my career, I served as Hospital Epidemiologist at academic health systems in Miami, FL and Milwaukee, WI. I was also the Chief Quality and Safety Officer of an academic health system in Richmond, VA.
Now, in my last professional chapter, I aim to incorporate all I have learned throughout the past 25 years in order to best care for my patients.

Medical school (1991-98)
In Peru, medical school is combined with undergraduate studies. At the age of 15, I started my medical studies at Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia. Challenging but enriching experience: here I learned not just medicine but also how to get things done with scarce resources.
